Prestigious Global Imaging Magazine Group Welcomes Australian Member
Camera magazine, published by nextmedia, has been admitted to the prestigious Technical Image Press Association (TIPA) group of imaging magazines.
Camera is the only Australian photography magazine to be invited to become part of the global group which had its origins in Europe, but has subsequently expanded into the USA, Canada and South Africa.
At the TIPA’s annual general meeting in New York in April, the group’s directors voted to accept Camera and the magazine Chinese Photography as full members of the association.
Making the historic announcement, Thomas Gerwers, Chairman of the TIPA Board said, “We at TIPA are very happy to advance our globalisation plan, making TIPA one of the world’s largest family of independent photo and imaging magazines made up of the most expert editors. TIPA welcomes its two new members and is happy to be able to spread its message of enthusiasm and optimism about photography to a huge audience worldwide and make the power of its blue logo more effective than ever.”
Camera magazine’s editor, Paul Burrows, said, “We’re immensely proud to have been welcomed into the TIPA fold. It’s a mark of Camera’s high editorial standards and integrity that we’re joining a group that represents many of the world’s leading imaging magazines. The interaction with these titles will be hugely beneficial to our readers and, of course, we’re very excited about being involved in future TIPA Awards judging.”
The Technical Image Press Association is made up 30 member photo and imaging magazines from five continents and 15 countries. The association is widely known by the general public for its annual awards and famous blue logo which have achieved great international recognition and prestige. Taking into account innovation, ergonomics, design, ease-of-use, efficiency, price/performance ratio, as well as other guidelines, TIPA editors have been bestowing the TIPA Awards to imaging products in various categories since 1991 in order to help photo enthusiasts and professionals make the best purchasing choices.
