NextMedia’s Sound+Image magazine presented its prestigious Sound+Image Awards at a full Presentation Dinner on November 25th, held at the Grace Hotel in Sydney.
The annual Sound+Image Awards dinner has been an essential event in the calendar of the audio-visual industry for more than 25 years, and cover the key areas of home entertainment:
– TVs and displays;
– sources (CD, turntables, Blu-ray players, PVRs and digital sources);
– amplifiers and receivers;
– loudspeakers, wireless speakers and multiroom systems; and
– custom installation projects and products.
A special introduction to the evening celebrated the revival of vinyl, and 100 years of the moving coil loudspeaker.
Held every year since 1989, the prestigious Sound+Image Awards recognise excellence in the design, manufacture and installation of audio and home entertainment equipment. The event this year was a who’s who of consumer audio & AV, attended by companies including Australian distributors and manufacturers Advance Audio, Audio Marketing, Bush Australia, BusiSoft AV, Convoy, Directed, Epson, Humax, Krix, Qualifi, Richter and Synergy, plus representatives of major internationals including Alpine, BenQ, Bose, Clarion, Epson, Panasonic, Pioneer, Sony and Yamaha.
The full list of winners is now live on a special microsite with all 66 award categories to be celebrated in a Special Awards Edition of Sound+Image magazine published in December. Platinum Partners for the awards evening were The Chester Group, organisers of the Australian Hi-Fi>AV Show.
Special Awards are presented for Innovation and Lifetime Achievement, the latter presented this year to industry stalwart Jacki Pugh, CEO of YBA.
Unlike many awards, there is no entry fee or submission process for the Sound+Image Awards, nor is there a charge for companies to use the Awards logo to announce and promote their successful products. Winners are chosen entirely on merit from the products reviewed in the previous year in Sound+Image, Australian Hi-Fi, Australian Incar Entertainment, Audio Esoterica, and Best Buys Audio & AV.
Our congratulation to all the winners on a fine year of audio and AV equipment, bringing music and movies to our homes in the highest quality at every price level.
