Nextmedia is proud to announce some of its key brands won awards last week.

ABC Gardening Australia magazine came away with two awards at this year’s Laurels, the awards run bi-annually by Horticultural Media Association Australia (HMAA) at the Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show.

Editor Jenny Baldwin picked up the Magazine Laurel for Gardening Australia, while horticultural editor Phil Dudman won a Laurel for Best Article for his fun story on ‘Garden Crimes’ in the July 2017 issue. Gardening Australia has been published for the last three years by Nextmedia, and these awards come at a time of substantial growth in the magazine’s circulation and readership.

Other Gardening Australia contributors were recognised for their achievements in horticultural media, among them Angus Stewart and AB Bishop who won the Book Laurel, Tim Entwisle who won the Blog Laurel, Michael McCoy who picked up the TV Laurel for his work hosting Dream Gardens on ABC TV, and Deryn Thorpe for the podcasts she records with Steve Wood in her Perth home.

Former Gardening Australia editor and regular contributor Jennifer Stackhouse was honoured with the Anita Boucher Outstanding Achievement Award, which recognises professionalism and talent in raising the standards of horticultural journalism.

iTnews is elated to have scooped a handful of awards at the 16th annual IT Journalism Awards, the preeminent awards program for technology journalism in Australia.

iTnews was awarded best news coverage for the second year in a row, beating the largest mainstream news publications in the country, as well as best security journalist for Allie Coyne and best telecommunications journalist for Ry Crozier. Sister publication CRN was thrilled to see Nico Arbodela take out the title of best new journalist.
